Handgun Safeties
There are a variety of safeties available
for handguns, and some of the most popular are the extended,
ambidextrous, and tactical. Although each has its strengths
and weaknesses,
they’re usually only found on high quality handguns
such as the ones available from Proguns.com.
An extended safety is exactly what the name
would imply: extended. This longer version allows easier use,
but can affect the ease of carry because it adds bulk and
can catch on clothing.
An ambidextrous safety allows use by southpaw
shooters and is often a feature on concealed carry guns as
well as those used by law enforcement. This feature is especially
useful for personal defense because it allows for use with
either hand, meaning you can react and shoot faster than with
a standard safety.
Tactical safeties are a nice compromise between
an extended and standard safety because it’s deeper
but not longer, allowing both concealed carry and easy use.
