One popular type of ammunition today is the hollow point bullet.
However, many handguns aren’t equipped to properly and
reliably shoot this type of ammo. Handguns with polished throats
and feed ramps can handle hollow points better than those
without.
A beveled magazine well is often one of the features touted
on higher grade handguns. This quality customization means
that the area into which the magazine is inserted is tapered
to guide the magazine in, allowing for easier and faster reloading.
A handgun with a lowered or flared ejection port is more reliable
because this feature allows for easier ejection of casings.
A beavertail safety grip is one feature commonly seen on well
crafted handguns such as Kimber. This quality provides both
safety and cosmetic appeal. A beavertail safety grip increases
the area over which recoil is spread, allowing easier and
more comfortable use. It also allows for a more consistent
grip, which in turn causes greater accuracy.
