What Is AOW?
Although you may see the term a lot
when researching Class 3 weapons, AOW is quite a vague term
encompassing many items. AOW is an acronym standing for the
phrase “Any Other Weapon.” This term was developed
by the B.A.T.F. in the NFA (National Firearms Act) to describe
any firearm that is not explicitly addressed. Some of the
more common weapons considered to be AOW include cane guns
and pen guns. However, AOW also includes firearms such as
smooth bore pistols and revolvers that fire shotgun shells
and have barrels less than 18 inches long. The taxes involved
with transferring AOW weapons are also different. Unlike most
NFA weapons, which require a $200 transfer fee, AOW weapons
cost only $5 to transfer.
If you’re looking to start a class
3 collection, then AOW weapons are a great place to start.
Because they are easier and less expensive to obtain, they
are a great jumping off point to ease you into owning NFA
weapons. Plus, the low prices on Proguns.com helps you get
the high-quality AOW weapons you want without breaking the
bank. With a huge selection and superior customer service,
